My Week

Once again its been a busy lately. But that's ok I like busy but, I'm so ready for barrel racing to start!!


  Thursday I had school and basketball practice. We were getting ready for our tournament on the weekend. I have been shooting at least 300  shots a day to work on my shooting. When I got home I packed.

 Friday we left for our tournament it was a 3 hour drive. When we got there we did some shopping and then had subway and went to the hotel to watch TV till it was time to leave for our game. We lost our first game by 2 points it was so sad. Then we ate and went back to the hotel.

  Saturday we won both of our games putting us in second placed at the tournament. I won a medal for MVP (most valuable player) on my team. A boy at the tournament was very interested in my sister he wanted her number and sat right next to her haha:) Over all the weekend was pretty fun.

  Sunday we went to church. Our pastor announced his wife was pregnant which is cool I cant wait to see the baby!! After church we went grocery shopping. Then we came home and practiced basketball. Then I had to do homework:(

  Today I had school and basketball practice. They had collage girls come in and practice with us it was fun it made things a challenge which is good for us!! After practiced my sister had a basketball game.

  I got a new breast collar for my horses its so cool its lots of different colors and the colors are in beads I love it!

My Weekend Plans

This weekend I will be going on another overnight basketball trip. We will be staying in a hotel again. So I'm am going to tell you guys what's in my overnight bag.

  I will be wearing jeans and a cute shirt down. Its a 2 hour drive to get there and jeans are what I am most comfortable in.

We will be getting to the hotel early Friday afternoon  and just hanging out. Then we leave to the game at 6 and our game is at 7:30. After the game we will probably get pizza our something to eat and shower then its lights out at 10.

  Saturday we have 2 games. Hopefully we do well at the tournament.

My Week

 Once again I have kinda been gone for a few days. I have been busy with school with essays, book reports, tests, and all that fun stuff (not):) Then there is basketball games pretty much every day of the week and most Saturdays I am at basketball practice, playing in a basketball game, or watching my sister play basketball and when I am not doing one of those things I am working out or spending time with family.


  Monday we were supposed to have a basketball game but there was bad weather so that got postponed.

 Tuesday my sister was supposed to have a game the bad weather continued so that got postponed to. I ran on the treadmill and lifted weights. Also I shot baskets at our hoop at home.

  Wednesday I had school and worked out and practiced basketball again.

  Thursday I had school, basketball practice, and I helped at boys basketball practice. I play against the boys sometimes which can be super fun, I am one of those girls who like to play against boys for the challenge :)

  Friday my team and I went to a 2 day basketball tournament were we played one game Friday night. Then we had pizza in the hotel.

  Saturday second day of the overnight tournament we played two games by that time for random reasons I had about 10 boys cheering for me:) After one of the games one of the boys came up to me and gave me a thumbs up and said good game so I smiled at him and said thanks, and his jaw dropped like he couldn't believe I smiled at him:)

  Today I went to church then my family and I went out to eat at a Chinese restaurant it was soo good, after that we came home and I couldn't keep my eyes open so I took a nap:) When I woke up I watched football with my dad, then I made dinner.

Barrel Racing History

  Barrel racing is an event in a rodeo, where the horses ability and the horsemanship of the it's rider are combined, to successfully ride through a clover leaf pattern of 3 barrels. The barrels are placed in the middle of an arena in a triangular pattern.

 In 1931 was when a girls event was started in Stanford, Texas. A weekend rodeo called "Cowboy Reunion" added an event for girls 16 and over. The first year the girls could only do very little such as participate in minor rodeo activities, leading of parades, and being available for the cowboys to dance with and talk to at the social events held at night.

  In 1932 girls started to get prizes they went in a figure 8 pattern around barrels. They got judged off of three things most attractive riding outfit, best horsemanship, and the best mount.

  The pattern got changed into a clover leaf pattern in 1935. It was not until 1949 did it get judged off of fastest time.

  Now days barrel racing is a popular event. The goal is to have the fastest time. You get timed by an electronic eye.

  Barrel racing is a professional sport held in the NFR (National Final Rodeo). The fastest run is held by Taylor Jacob in the 2016 NFR running a 13.37 second run.

Happiness

I honestly think this is so true, we live in a world were people think everything has to be perfect to be happy. But sorry to be the bearer of bad news but we are never gonna find absolute perfection, well that is until we go to heaven. We have to look at the beauty of the small things and see just how beautiful God made earth. Look just how much your family loves you, how your animals love to see you, how you made somebody happy by as simple of a thing as smiling or saying hi, and most of all look at the beauty of Gods love.

Horse Notebook

 Today I had school, and then I practiced basketball I shot until I made 100 baskets, and then I went out and petted my horses.

  So one thing I like to do weather it is a young horse, new horse, or even just all of your horses. I like to keep a notebook on there progress, or what I did with them that day, or things I would like them to improve on.

  First off to make this fun I like to get a cute notebook and some colorful and fun pens.

 You could either keep a notebook for each horse, or use the same notebooks for all of your horses I like to keep one for each horse. I hope this helps with keeping how your horses have progressed and helping you remember what you want to teach them. It is also fun to go back at the end of the year and see everything you have done and how far your horse has come along!

Fun And Easy Crafts

Sorry I have been gone for awhile again. I have been having basketball games. We won our games on Saturday, and then my friend came over and stayed the night, we watched movies and ate popcorn and candy.

Sunday my sister and I made some crafts. We made T-shirts we just got stencils, fabric markers, and plan T-shirts. I chose a saying off the internet and wrote it on the shirt and we got some really cute shirts to wear while riding!

Then we made notebooks. We got pieces of foam and folded them in half, and then cut paper to that size, and then used a whole punch and punched holes into them, and then we tied it together with a ribbon. Then I just chose a saying and used glitter glue and designed the front.

                                                                           

                                                                  
                                                                  

                                      Both these crafts were simple and really fun to make.

 Today I had school, then my sister had a basketball game, and then my mom, sister, and I went shopping and out to eat.

Life Is Busy

 Sorry I have not been blogging much!! I have been sooo busy in between school, basketball practice, basketball games, and spending anytime I get with my family. It has been really busy.

  I had a basketball game Saturday we won that game. I had school and basketball practice Monday. Both my sister and I had basketball games Tuesday which my sister lost her game by 4 points, and I lost my game by 2 points which was sad because 2 of our fastest players got injured. Today I had school and my mom, sister, brother, and I went grocery shopping, then I had homework to do.  Tomorrow I have school and my sister has a basketball game and I have stuff going on the rest of the week so I will try to get a better blog up ASAP.

  Funny story......my brother likes to try to help me with my school, so I was reading him my history homework, he claimed he was interested, he ended up falling asleep after like 10 minutes :)

Today

 Today I had school and basketball practice. Practice was pretty fun they brought in 4 collage girls to scrimmage us. I got a very minor ankle sprain, but I will be able to play in our game tomorrow which I am excited about. Our team has won all of our games this year so far but we have at least 25 more to go. I also went to watch a basketball game tonight that's why this blog won't be very long.

Horse Training Ideas

  One of the training drills I like to do with my horses are funnel barrels, this really helps the horse pay attention to what you are telling them to do, because you can mix it up, and they have to rely on you to tell them what to do. I really find this helps with my young inexperience barrel horse and just as much with my advanced barrel horses. I also think it would work with whatever you do with your horse just as a listening and paying attention drill. Here is how it works.....
                                                              
                                                               

  Make sure when you are doing this drill you keep a nice pocket (space between your horse and the barrel), when you ask your horse to turn drop one hand off the reins and lift the reins and ask for a turn (the thing my horse knows that means turn for them is when I say here), make sure when you do this drill you are picking up your reins not dragging them!! Dragging can cause the horse to drop his shoulder and knock over the barrel.

Summer Excitment

   With 2017 starting off boy am I ready for summer!! I can't wait to start barrel racing again!!

  I am getting a new horse this year he is a 7 year old sorrel quarter horse gelding. I am getting him from my grandma she says he is a 1D barrel horse in the local barrel races already and they haven't even pushed him to his full potential. I can't wait to ride him in the rodeos and barrel races!! I went and rode him a month ago, he and I got along great! He is a beautiful horse and very fast! I am very excited to see how he and I work together. I'll be writing blogs of him and posting pictures of him.

I am also ready to work with my 5 year old mare Ellie, I am excited to get her going and see her potential. I will also be blogging about the training I am doing with my horses.


Funny story.......when I was trying out my new horse, we were slowing loping the barrels I didn't expect him to be as fast as he was and, I almost popped right out of the saddle:)

Difficult Situations

  Have you ever done something that you don't want to do or be in, just because you didn't want to hurt somebody?

   It's a difficult situation to be in, because if your like me there is nothing I hate more then hurting or disappointing someone!! Well, we honestly have to do what's best for us! Because pleasing other people for something you don't want in the end it's never right. You will either  hate the situation you are in, or hurt somebody way more then if you would have just told them in the beginning. Also, settling is never a good option on important things. So, just remember do what's best for you, but do it the nicest way possible for the other person involved!

   Today I had basketball practice, our coaches New Years Resolution was to get us in really good  shape. So we ran lots of sprints and 5 minutes worth of laps.


   Funny story......Last night at like midnight my dog started panting and woke me and my sister up, it took us like ten minutes of telling him to be quite before he finally quite panting:)

                                                  Wow 2017 that sounds strange to say!


                                                          My resolutions for this year are.

   1. Ride in all of our local rodeos.
   2. Getting my 5 year old horse all the way ready to rodeo.
   3. Make wise decisions in whatever comes my way!
   4. Do good in the rest of our basketball season.
   5. Glorify God in all I do!!!

  I hope everyone is having a great start to 2017!!
  Today I went to church, then went shopping with my mom and sister, and then we came home and did chores. I spent 20 min just petting the horses they just love attention!!

 School starts back on Wednesday, not quite ready for that:)

   Funny story.......Last night when I got back from being up late with friends I couldn't even stay up late enough to greet 2017:)
